Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue has just launched a video in memory of dear Gracie on YouTube, please view the video and send to all your contacts, we are trying to get a message out to the public of what lies in our own backyards. These situations happen often without anyone ever knowing and too often people get away with these terrible acts of cruelty with no charges ever being laid.
Let's not have Gracie and her filly to have suffered and died in vain, in their memory let's do something.
All authorites being government, law enforcement and SPCA need to step up and acknowledge what is happening. Why is this allowed to go on? We need to be the voice for horses as they can't speak for themselves. There were no charges laid in this case.
Together we can make a difference somehow.
GRACIE'S STORY
THIS IS GRACIE'S STORY.
GRACIE WAS RESCUED FROM A FARM IN NORFOLK COUNTY AUG 28 2009. THE ORIGINAL CALL CAME IN TO THE SPCA STATING THERE WAS A DEAD FOAL IN THE FIELD, UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS GRACIE'S BABY.
GRACIE WAS BROUGHT TO THE RESCUE SO WE COULD TRY TO SAVE HER, ALONG WITH 6 OTHER HORSES NEEDING IMMEDIATE CARE. SHE SURVIVED FOR 4 DAYS WITH US, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE FOR HER.
SHE WAS SO EMACIATED THAT HER MUSCLE WAS TOO FAR GONE. SHE WAS EATING WELL AND DRINKING, BUT ONCE SHE FELT COMFORTABLE IN HER COZY STALL, SHE LAID DOWN. THAT WAS THE END FOR GRACIE. SHE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH MUSCLE MASS TO GET BACK UP.
WE TRIED MANY HOURS TO SAVE HER, BUT IT WAS TOO LATE.
GRACIE WAS LAID TO REST IN MY ARMS PEACEFULLY WITH DIGNITY AND COMFORT.
SHE WILL FOREVER BE IN OUR HEARTS AS SHE GAVE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE, THE DEATH OF HER FILLY, AND THEN HER OWN LIFE.
HER SACRIFICE SAVED THE OTHER 14 HORSES THAT WERE ON THE FARM.
REST IN PEACE DEAR GRACIE, YOU SO DESERVED BETTER.
