A Successful Adoption Story
Prince (now Phoenix) is also also featured in our 2014 calendar as the August horse

Prince is a 7-year-old palomino, Quarter Horse gelding about 15.2 hh. He arrived at WHHR as an unstarted, stallion. While in our care, he was gelded and backed. He was sound and a lovely mover, and because he was so green and very confident, he needed a home with an experienced, confident rider to help him reach his potential.

Prince found just the person he needed when he was adopted in June 2013. His human partner recently sent this update:

Prince Phoenix

Prince has now been home with me for 7 weeks. He has been renamed "Phoenix" which he chose out of long list of names. He was like "Yep! Thats me!" ( We wanted to make sure we honoured his roots and the story of the Phoenix fits where he has been and our rebirth together).

Last Sunday was my birthday and I decided that I wanted to spend it with Phoenix, because honestly, what's better than time with a horse??

Shanoa (our sweet, pinto pony who is blind in one eye) is on a new journey with her adoptive family. We are very happy to see her go to be loved and pampered. She loaded on the trailer like a champ. Amazing what they can do when they trust.

Congratulations, Tara and family.

Maple is a beautiful, black aged Standardbred mare. Since being adopted, Maple has been trained to jump and is now competing successfully in local horse shows. Her family recently sent us this update:

Tia and Maple definitely have a very close bond. Maple knows our voices and comes running when we call her from the edge of the field. She loves the attention and going fast, jumping and challenges. She just doesn't like standing still - we are okay with that for now. She has become a very large part of our family of rescued animals.

Jukebox is a standardbred gelding and Coco Puff is a minature horse!

Both these boys have been adopted together!!

Pebbles is a palomino minature horse. She is a doll!

She has been adopted! Thank you to Jon and Mel for giving her such a great home!!

Cass is a 16.2hh stunning bay thoroughbred gelding. He is solid! He is broke to ride and will make an amazing dressage, hack or pleasure riding horse!

He has been adopted! Thank you Connie!
